The Context

Increasing geopolitical tension, climate change and (potential cross-border) mass migration continues to negatively impact on traditional farming, while technologies, internet-of-things, data-mining, artificial intelligence, supercomputing, renewable energy and storage become ever better, cheaper and popular. People’s access to information, things and currencies are increasingly digitalised and on-line. All these add to the potential of urban smart farming that uses less land and water with better efficiency and outcome normalisation.

Mission and Vision

Inspired by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to improve human lives and protect the environment, CentriFusion Smart Farming’s mission is to provide low-income urban communities with best horizontally integrated organic and nutritious food grown from smart farming practices for them to achieve nutritious food security and extra income. Rural farmers will have opportunities to migrate and upskill within a modernised urban society or stay and lead the way of rural and local agricultural and food innovation.

Through shared technologies, economy, renewable energy and sustainable practices, sourcing, production, sales and distribution will be facilitated utilising a combination of centralised local indoor farming centres and de-centralised public and private spaces such as underground carparks, subfloors, roofs, ceilings, screened windows and vertical walls, to reduce the widespread space, water and transportation wastage currently in practice. Urban smart farming further adds to beautifying city- and landscape while reducing direct exposure of buildings and pavements to sun and thus lowering metropolitan surface temperature.
